Circle Lens, DECO & Daily Mitsu

I had quit circle lens for a while because of the ugly truth of living in Japan and having circle lens. Gal is sometimes a nasty, disgusting thing. With 12.790 million people living in Tokyo (and more that commute in from Chiba and Yokohama), and most taking public transportation you touch what they touch so contagious problems always fester. I came down with pink eye 3 times in Tokyo last summer/winter. I had not worn circle lens before that and had 0 issues with pink eye. So I think circle lens can speed up the problems. When you see people with eyepatches, it’s not cosplay

Just letting you know when you get a bad case of pink eye and get so bad you feel blind and get a fever. Taking a bus half blind to a to a hospital and then doctor you don’t know in a second language is a shitty and frightening experience. :^_^;;:

But onto circle lens and the joy of them  . Circle lens are a pain in the booty to shop for with light eyes. Most circle lens make everyone look like a clone/robot, but with light eyes and dark rims the creepy part intensfies.

3 circle lens with NO MAKE on. First two are with eyelash extensions.

Natural eye, no make (a bit red from allergies, sorry :^_^;;: )

Geo Angel BLUE

Geo Nudy GREY

Max Grey

With make (except lip gloss was still doing my hair). I think they really take away from my blue eye color. Disappointing  :(

My favorites are the Nudy Greys because I think they look the most natural. Blues and such just look absolutely fake. :icon_eek: I ordered another pair (the Adult series in brown) that should arrive soon, and hopefully they aren’t as much downers. If they are I might just have to go back to the Nudy Greys. -_-

Decolicious

I ordered my Max Grey’s from pinkyparadise, no complaints except for the price of express shipping ($16.00). I also purchased a cute pink bear contact case, that got the deco treatment.

My bear now looks like piggies but I’m okay with that. SS07 and SS10 Light Rose Swarovski

I also accented my eyeliner brush with Meridian Blue SS16 Swarovksi

Deco lighters are everywhere in Japan so of course I bought one
(and accidentally smuggled it back :!: )

All 3 together

My friend Tom recently went to Glam Baby and got some great guy deco. Deco charm by109-2 Men’s Store Wild Party
He has such great taste and I love the men’s style simplicity of it

I also got a little sumthin’ sumthin’ that’s bound to be decoed soon

iPhone 3gs baby~ I really wanted the white. Can’t wait to shine her up

I also nabbed some delicious Lush products, masks and bubble baths. The Love Lettuce mask is AMAZING!

Daily Mitsu

In fabulous and amazing news I finally bought a 7ft tall mirror from Ikea~! I have been wanting a full length mirror for forever but couldn’t find one that was giant enough. My place in Houston is actually converted lofts with 20ft ceilings so small mirrors are just dwarfed by the height of my place. :icon_eek: But finally~! Finally!

Lighting is another issue. Trying to light a place with 20ft ceilings is a pain in the booty

Third up: Dressy kaji – J style

Hat: Spiral Girl
Jacket: BR
Shirt: BGB Max Azria
Jeans: Bape
Shoes: r&e

After Lana’s model spam with so many girls wearing this w<3c shirt I had to wear it, too. Out shopping

Shirt: w<3c
Jumper skirt: Somewhere on Takeshita circa 2007
Shoes: Bonita

The best hair shot I got (which is still not a good one). I was doing Kanako’s fluff and undercurl.

Next week on the Doll is Gilfy week~ I’m stupidly excited

oh my gosh, that’s exactly why I won’t do circle lenses :icon_eek: I just don’t want to risk the disease/blindness. I know there’s the whole ~debate~ of it, but I can live my life happily without them and not risk it…

That’s pretty funny you were able to ‘sneak’ back the lighter~! I can’t wait to see how you bling up the white iphone woo~! :)

Loving your outfits, I want the ‘I don’t like Spring’ shirt in pink!

LOL it was truly a sneak in, too. I didn’t even know I packed it in my carryon and it went through airport security easily too

I’m at a loss of what to do with my phone, but hopefully it’ll come to me :-D

I actually think both of the grey lenses look great on you! <3 I agree the blue ones do look fake :( I have dark eyes & ordered the King Series Grey ones, so I'm hoping those will look natural on me XD I wanna try the Adult Series ones too!
I can't wait to see your iPhone deco & LOVE LOVE your outfit snaps! I am so jealous of the w<3c shirt, haha! & your bob looks fabulous ^-^

Cute outfits, I really love that W<3C shirt.

I love the deco and can't wait to see what you'll do with your iPhone
I am actually considering deco'ing my phone. I got a new one and it just seems to be calling out to me, haha. But I've never deco'd anything before so I was thinking of making a post on my blog about it, and asking for advice :D

LOL I love decoed phones, but they are sometimes such heartbreak. Since you’re always banging them against something or abusing them (or I am the only one heehehe) they are some of the worst things to deco 8) But I love how they look afterwards

I wear circle and regular lens all the time ans also lived in Japan for a year and never got a pink eye, so don`t generalize :p
    I love that WC shirt!

    • Mitsu
      January 24, 2010 / 9:10 am

Well I did wear regular lens before and had no issues, but I think circle lens helps the repetition that is the problem with pink eye. One case of pink eye sucks, but more than one is crap :>_< ;;: Of course so does throwing away all your eye products (which I did each time, god that was expensive). Not saying Japan + circle lens = pink eye. Just I think it can increase chances. :)

      wc is love

Sorry you got pink eye so many times! Must have sucked, when you were in Japan and wanted to shop and have fun.

Also sorry if my comment sounded rude, I didn`t mean it. I guess what I wanted to say is, I just think people (not you) too often blame all eye diseases on circle lens and think they are very dangerous, which they are not. I`m a big fan and wear CL for a couple years now and never had a problem… dunno, I`m starting to sound like some PR saleswoman, so I`ll stop xDDD

Anyways, can`t wait for more entries!

    • January 24, 2010 / 11:13 am

I don’t think she was generalising. It’s common knowledge that people who wear contact lenses of any kind are more likely to contract eye infections due to something as simple as picking something up on your hand and then forgetting, and playing around with the lens etc. You can also pick things up from the environment and if the contact lenses degrade. It can be a burden for some people :(

I tried out circle lenses and I too caught an infection, it wasn’t as bad as pink eye but was still unpleasant.

  5. January 24, 2010 / 7:41 am

Thank you for writing about pale colored eyes and circle lenses, this is something I’m personally curious about. I always felt circle lenses would looks strange on me, and it helps to learn about how they look on blue eyes. I agree the Geo Nudy GREY blend best with your natural eye color.

Oh deco items! I want some eheh  I really like your friend’s man deco on his phone, it’s super cute and tasteful. I can’t wait to see how your iPhone comes out!!

I loved seeing your spring coordinate examples, that is so useful! And your hair looks so beautiful, you did a great job styling it! It looks so full of highlights, is that natural? Its natural! :)

    • Mitsu
      January 24, 2010 / 8:15 pm

Yeah I wish there were more resources or just a pack of pics of people with pale eyes using circle lens. It would be so helpful

Are you going to deco your new phone? No pressure teehee

Oh shucks I think that was just my shine spray faking highlights. Yay for shine+set spray

I got pale eyes too and it really is a pain in the backside. I got myself Geo nudy blues and I wanted them to bring out my blue colour more, but they just blend in :/ I'd love a pair of crazy blue lenses!

      January 24, 2010 / 8:11 pm

hahaha pls show me how the blue look on yours. I love seeing light-eyed people with circle lens  Since I got the Nudy Grey already I was considering another color. I think I might try the violet just for fun

  7. January 24, 2010 / 8:07 am

I absolutely love your hair cut! I will never do it to myself, though, I think I wouldn’t fit me
Lately I’ve been wondering about buying circle lenses, cause my eyes are very dark, and I normally use lenses by medical reasons…but now …I’ll think it over :^_^;;:
By the way, how can you manage with those extra-long nails??! :icon_eek:

Awwwh thank you  It’s a bit of a pain to style, but I’m happy

LOL it’s really easy to put lens in with long nails you just need to use your middle finger which curves a little more. It sounds odd, but it’s really simple

    January 25, 2010 / 1:03 pm

Personally, I never really understood the appeal of circle lenses for people that already have non-black/brown eyes. I thought that they were for girls who wanted to get blue/green/grey/whatever eyecolor (I know this isn’t always the case and that brown and black lenses are available). My eyes are already very blue so I feel like I wouldn’t need them (I wouldnt’ve thought you would need them either, to be honest…), but does the outer circle give the look more edge?

    • Mitsu
      January 26, 2010 / 10:16 am

Yeah they’re slightly bigger so your eyes show up more in photographs and such. I would be happy with just rims (keeping my natural color and I bought the Max Grey thinking those would work), but so far no finds like that.

I'm also scared about germs and the like. :\

I also love your lighter! and that you have LUSH's Sunny Side Up bubble bar which is one of my favorite products from there

The thing with circle lenses, is that because they have less water content than normal contacts, they are not designed to be worn everyday or longer than 6-8 hours. Before I got into circle lens and contacts in general I did a lot of research on them and realised that a lot of people who had gotten eye infections from them were because, they didn’t clean their hands properly, ie. just washed with water, used their saliva to wash their contacts (Don’t even ask how some ppl can be that stupid -_-), or wore them everyday for long periods of times or tried to sleep in them.

For me my general rule is I wash my hands thoroughly with hand wash and water and dry with tissue before putting on contacts. I’ll make sure that after washing my hands, any contact with solution or lens case is by using a tissue so i won’t get germs. I keep a bottle of Sanitiser and solution with me at all times in case I need to take them out after 3-4 hours because of really windy conditions or strong air con which might dry them out faster. Sometimes if after an hour or two my contacts don’t feel comfortable, ie. I can feel something there when I blink, I will also take them out. Of course, when I go home I will clean them again. There is recently an auto contact cleansing machine or something which I am thinking of getting one. But then there is also the problem that when people first get their lenses, they never went to a optometrist to get a fitting first. It’s important to go get a fitting because they also show you how to put them on and clean them properly.

For me, I recommend that if you are planning to wear circle lenses everyday, I recommend 1-day Acuvue Defines because their water content is extremely high and extremely comfortable. I use their Vivid ones for everyday and GEO ones for special occasions like a weekend party or something. (though with acuvue defines, it might not be suitable for people with light eyes). And well yea, generally I don’t always wear circle lenses like if I feel that my eyes are slightly dry today or sore or even if I am gonna be out all day at uni or work I won’t wear them.

      January 26, 2010 / 7:05 pm

      saliva!?! insanity!

I think for me the problem was sweat or such. Tokyo can get extremely humid so I would wipe my brow and sometimes touch my eye. 8) It was an unconscious thought to do so.

I’ve been a longtime contact user with no problems previously, but you’re absolutely right that circle lenses and their water content can be problematic and I hope this didn’t come off as me saying circle lenses are evil or no one should wear them. It was more the problems faced when being with a lot of people everyday and how like in any big city with a large public transit system issues can fester.

      • January 29, 2010 / 5:49 am

Yea I get what you mean about rubbing the eyes. I unconsciously do that too and it’s annoying coz afterwards I remember that I have make up on. -_-

IMO I reckon circle lenses are evil coz they’re over the counter and the fact that a lot of magazines don’t shed any light about contact lenses care and safety is annoying. This is when a lot of problems go wrong because a lot of people are lazy to see the optometrist for a contacts fitting (coz you have to pay for it here) and think contacts are all the same sizes and stuff.

I have heard many insane stories about people misusing contact lenses. Some people clean it with water, saliva, some don’t even wash their hands before they put it in!! And then there are those that know that you shouldn’t sleep with contacts but do it anyway because too lazy to remove them and because nothing happened the first time, they just do it repeatedly. Then there are those who like to keep touching their contacts in the eyes throughout the day and play around with them. Aiya, the list goes on -_-

        • January 29, 2010 / 5:56 am

And no, the post didn’t come off as “no one should wear circle lenses”. You mentioned pretty clearly about some of the problems you have faced with circle lenses which is a necessary post on the internet because a lot of webpages just talk about where to get them and how great they are, while the other half talks about how asians are obssessed with them and they are ugly. -_- It’s great to see posts like these which puts in the reality of circle lenses to people to make them realise that there is a certain danger to these lenses, which is why we shouldn’t wear them everyday.

  17. January 27, 2010 / 3:55 am

    hi hi ^^
i’m a fan of circle lens too and I’ve been wearing them for almost 3 years already.
I’ve tried Nudy Grey too! How coincidence, haha. Yes, I love it, but when I first wore it, I dare not look into my own eyes too. Haha… However, I have not tried blues/ greens circle lens yet :P
I get lots of compliments for the circle lens too. And that’s why I’m wearing them till now. :D
Oh ya, you look really kawaii~~

  18. January 28, 2010 / 1:10 am

i see you got lenses from pinky paradise!!!

i just got some too and totally LOVE them! i got the barbie king size in black to keep my natural color..i guess it looks most natural that way imo…

i also got the pink bear case but didnt have to buy it…they just sent it to me..maybe a promotion?

and i chose the cheapest shipping option and they came to me in about a week! i would do that and save the $11 next time! ^^
