Gilfy Week – Gilfy Nails and Make-up

Make-up Gilfy style

Make-up is quickly changing within the Gyaru world in terms top eyelashes. It’s not just Gilfy this time, but personally I think they’re doing an excellent job in matching clothes to make-up.

Both are in typical rock-style make-up. Can’t say I love the under eyeline on the left, but both are working rock-style make-up well

The charisma staff-chan Emina, often posts about make-up in her blog. This is a great shot of how she’s elongating the top line.

Here is it with eyes closed

A close-up of her casual make style. It appears she’s using individual bottom lashes, possibly these from Shu Uemura.

Shu Uemura individual bottom lashes. Very easy to apply.

The same look with blonde hair

This is the big change within Gyaru make-up lately is to go to fantasy lashes, often ignoring the lower lashes for the sake of showing off bold fantasy top lashes. Lip Service sold lash sets for Christmas and none were bottom lashes, instead they did fantasy lashes.

Here she is with a combination of Shu Uemura accent lashes and Mac lashes

Gorgeous Shu Uemura accent lashes ($22.00 here)

Lash #7 from MAC. I cannot overemphasize how popular these are with gals. They’re always sold out at MAC counters and Donki (Don Quiote discount store) makes its own imitations. ($13.00 here)

Another staff-chan from Gilfy using the same Shu Uemura accent lashes. Love the star beauty mark. If you haven’t guessed it yet Gilfy loves stars.

She combined her Shu Uemura lashes with cheap multi-packs from Donki

Another Gilfy staff-chan working a very smoky eye and an extremely nude lip

Emina herself prefers a little more color with cheeks and lips. This is my personal preference as well.

As for eyeshadow Emina has stated several times she loves Nars eyeshadow. Nars eyeshadow is really popular with gals, I’m unsure why they don’t stay with MAC for all their eye needs, but Nars does make wonderful eyeshadows.

If you’re needing more make-up insight today:

I tweeted about Tae of Noritae’s great non-photoshopped make-up tutorial here.
Also Laia posted a gyaru make-up tutorial more for those of us with non-Asian eyes. Lovely step-by-step pictures.

EDIT: I know a lot of you liked the star eyelashes. I found a website prettyandcute.com that has some star eyelashes. Not as fabulous but only $3.50!

Gilfy Nails

The staff-chans keep posting pictures of their nails. Unlike the insane mori nails I tweeted about on the Ikebukuro Mar*s staff-chan last night, these show pretty, practical mostly gel nails for girls working a lot with their hands.

A really cute star motif to match the store.

Traditional gel nails which are pretty OL-style.

Absolutely love these. Rock-style and practical.

Very classy and yet more stars

My favorite of the bunch, love the lame + black design.

    Such gorgeous make-up and nails!!
I am not a big fan of the nude lip, as I’m quite pale and prefer to keep myself from looking like the walking dead lol. I also like light pink on the cheeks. Maybe I’ll update with my make-up look one day…and have people critique it

I have loved false lashes forever, but I find them so hard to apply myself. I’m going to give it another go, with some decent glue and see what happens :-S

I hated false lashes for the longest time until I started using half-ones. They’re so much easier to deal with :-D

LOL exactly. A nude lip and I look like I need someone to hand me an oxygen tank :(

    thanks for the photos!
I like how a lot of them are really close up and I think they’ll inspire me especially when using fake lashes – which sadly I’m mostly too lazy to put on. but I hope that’ll change after the tests at university are over >3<.
also I'd like to ask if you could give the link to 'emina's blog and I've been wondering if those earrings on the left girl (first photo) are also by gilfy? I know I've seen them somewhere but I don't remember where and I want my friend in Tokyo to maybe get them for me ;D – thank you!

Love Emina make up,its gorgeous and the pink cheeks:)That how I like to do my make up at the moment.Im not sure why they are moving from MAC either :S
I’ve only got one NARS eyeshadow but it is awesome.NARS is on my make up shopping list, just so hard to get a hold of here:(

I love false lashes! My #7 are one of my faves.Im not really a fan of fantasy lashes but I am loving those Shu Uemura one ,Im seriously contemplating buying them.

That’s so cool! I can really see the Gilfy style reflected in the makeup and nails of the shop staff girls :o I wish working in a retail shop here had the same sort of feeling. I mean really dressing up in the brand, with matching makeup, and being an almost model with a popular blog!

The close up of the lashes and tutorials were really helpful. I am picking up some of those donki eyelashes on my next trip!

    • Mitsu says:

staff-chans do love their brand. Especially Gilfy and the larger ones. I think they’re doing the right thing with making the staff like models, but I feel feminist groups in the states might have a backlash of the whole eyecandy idea of it. Personally I think these girls are doing it for themselves so more power to them

Donki Eyelashes rock, I am kind of amiss at why some girls don’t just buy them, but then again brand love is strong

I thought the close-ups were nice, too. I really love that elongated eyeline and have been working on mine today :o

great pictures i lvoe the girls nails ^^

  7. Lindsay says:

Love the lashes! I’ve been getting a little lash-crazy myself recently. I usually just buy cheapie Revlon and Ardell sets from the drugstore now, though. When I first started getting into falsies I bought the $24 Shu Uemura ones. Crazy expensive for something that lasted a little over a month. But I realized that the drugstore ones last about as long, look just as good, and are a fraction of the price, so there you go.

Also, is it just the staffers or are nails getting shorter? I like. :)

    • Mitsu says:

I think it’s both cost and necessative that they go with short gel ones. Short gels are only around $50USD if you find cheap shops so it saves the girlies cash while letting them keep pretty nails :o

I am not big on buying the brand ones, I am like the other gal buying the bulk lashes from Donki. But, I think the fantasy accent ones by Shu are so pretty. If they did those cheaper, I’d definitely buy them, but I think it’s worth a little more for special occassions

      • Lovely says:

This Website has a few for really cheap and right now they are having a special of a free pair of natural eyelashes with a 6 dollar purchase.

Though the downside is either you can go with really slow free shipping or really expensive fast shipping for these. :’(

This post totally made my day! I just love the notion of coordinating a particular fashion style with matching hair, make, and nails. It really makes such a difference in a gal’s overall look! Emina’s “star spangled” lashes—that’s what I’m calling them, lol—are simply adorable.

I also noticed that a lot of gals seem to love NARS, the eye shadows like you said, but also the blushes. Personally, I’m satisfied with less expensive brands of make, though it’s nice to know that we Western gals have ready access to the same great products. Luckily, gals seem to like Revlon, Maybelline, NYX, too!

And thanks for posting the links to recent make tutorials! I just love what Laia did with her eyes.

The nails in the last photo are absolutely gorgeous, though I like the pink ombre ones in the second photo too!.
