mbok & y! Japan gal auctions & Yumetenbou gal items

I know from the previous post on Character Goods x Gal Brands that many of you were upset some of the items you liked were already sold out. Being sold out is a HUUUUGE problem in Japan. Some of the saddest words to wear from a staff-chan is “mou kanbai shita” (もう完売した)meaning it’s already sold out. :(

Gal brands make items in limited quantities in order to increase demand, but that leaves us with empty shopping bags :( But there’s an answer, especially for overseas gals, it’s auctions!

A bag by Cecil McBee, Hairbow by WC, Outfit by Duras, and Boots by Liz Lisa. All things you could buy at auction. :sparkle2:

mbok rules!

While I’m sure many of you are familar with yahoo! Japan auctions, you might not be as familar with mbok. While y! Japan auctions does host some clothing, it’s childlike compared to the giant of mbok. For example, I did a search for WC on y! Japan and got 6 pages of clothes. Okay that’s good. But on mbok, it has its own category and inside is 28 pages of WC! :icon_eek:

They even have a section dedicated to gal brands!

I just wrote out the ones I clicked on.

But 141,395 of JUST gal clothing :o

For those of you who love trad-hade brand DIA, there’s 1,639 items for you!

Some really adorable pieces from Ma*rs up for auction :hearts2:

For those of you who are hime lovers and Jesus Diamante worshippers, there’s 1,049 Jesus Diamante auctions going on right now with some hidden great deals on both dresses and shoes. I spotted a cute pair of JD mules for 5,000 yen ($52.00). :-D

Shopping Service – Japonica

Now of course you need a go between for these auctions since most don’t ship internationally and many prefer bank transfers, but luckily there’s services!

I’m only going to talk about one, because I think they’re amazing and deal with both y! Japan auctions, mbok & rakuten stores: Japonica Market

I wish I got paid to talk about them, but I didn’t so shucks you’ll just have to take my word

Things great about Japonica :star:

:star2: They’re super fast in replying to questions and shipping. I think they have US hours sometimes because even when it’s 3:00am for Tokyo, they still reply to me quickly :cheery:
:star2: They give you the option of bid sniping for free
:star2: They work on both y!Japan, mbok & rakuten which is really rare
:star2: For each auction you win they charge you a simple commission. No extras, no nothing. Just one fee.
:star2: English fluency, nothing gets lost in translation.
:star2: They e-mail you each day you have an open auction on the status(es) of your auction.
:star2: They pack and ship well and everything is shipped from Tokyo. Often services say they live in Japan and can act as your shipping service, but they live in a small prefecture making it costlier to ship and more time on land before it can get to a plane to get shipped.
:star2: They charge you in yen through paypal, meaning you get the honest exchange rate every time.

I’ve worked with them on several auctions and really I have no complaints at all. The best shopping overseas, bar none. Recommended like hella~

Thanks to Japonica I was able to snag the dress on the cover of the Gilfy Store book :stars:

I also e-mailed them today and asked if they’d add the 109 webstore. Hopefully they say yes :hearts3:

edit: At my request they’ve registered and can buy from 109 e-store as well :korila:

Speaking of Rakuten stores, let’s talk a very popular gal and sweet-kei clothing shop. Popteen asked 1000 girls what’s their favorite shopping website and #1 was Yumetenbou (夢展望) with 250 people voting for it.

From Popteen’s March 2010 issue :sparkle2:

Yumetenbou is divided into two websites on Rakuten: Dreamv and Curvys

Now there’s been some English chatter on how gals pay so much money or gals live in only brand items or gal is so expensive or gals love to spend money etc etc the whole thing is boring and lies. :depressed:

Yumetenbou as #1 goes straight against all those English biased comments. Yumetenbou is not brand, it’s cheap, and as you can tell from Popteen it’s popular. There’s nothing wrong with wanting cute stuff but not wanting to pay so much :-D

Yumetenbou is also fab because they got Sakurina to do a capsule collection for Yumetenbou (starting yesterday!)

Now her fronted collection isn’t exactly the usual Rock-kei Sakurina, but it’s cute.

Her 1st part had this adorable maxi dress in it. Love the print :hearts2:

If you haven’t noticed they love to copy Liz Lisa. But this one complete with belt and shirt goes for 2,980 :stars:

The floral maxi dress is really booming right now. For 3980 yen (~$42) I may need to get it in blue.

This super hot Golds Infinity-like Agejo dress is 3980 (~$42) and comes in sizes S-LL.

Every so often I’ll start posting some Yumetenbou deals, they’re hard to miss out on. :cheery: And their models are soooo cute! :hearts: They style them well, too :sparkle2:

Thank you so much for some great sites.

I’ve hopefully just got my hands on the new Gilfy catalogue. The boyf ordered me it, but I’m waiting to see if they still have it in stock. I do love the dress on the cover, and the blue is gorgeous.

Oohh, thanks for the info on mbok! :note:
I’ve never heard of them before but I’m always looking for good shopping service :hearts2:
Have you gotten your Yumetenbou stuff yet? I’m curious about their quality since you know the old saying, you get what you pay for :^_^;;: haha~

  4. March 31, 2010 / 6:19 pm

Thank you for that info on Mbok!! :peer: I had no idea of its existence, and it look fabulous! I will just go ahead and browse that for the rest of this evening haha.

I like Yumetenbo as well, I think it’s a great place to get pieces to mix in with brand items. Like that denim one-piece, you could switch out the belt with something cuter/fancier. Anyhow haha I have a big list of items I want to buy from Yumetenbo, but I am waiting until I’m back in Japan, because I like to save money on shipping haha

    waaa~~~
since i’m a student living off my grants/scholarships/loans, i don’t ever think about buying brand. i’ve been content with searching high & low all over (offline and online) for things that are similar. but mitsuuuu you’ve made it so hard to resist with mbok! ahhh i know once i get a steady job, it will become irresistible… :korila:

you are such an invaluable resource for the international gal community~ thanks for all your hard work!

      thank you

yes definitely recommended! Japonica rocks :)

  8. March 31, 2010 / 10:25 pm

Agreed with all this :) There is another really popular web-based shop (in Japan) that sells super cheap Gal clothes that my fiance has bookmarked. It`s the kind of places to easily buy up trends you don`t see yourself wearing for years because most things are around 1,000yen. I need to remember it! If I do, I will link you to it.

Oooh, when I did lolita I always used mbok and y!j auctions, but didn’t think of searching for gyarubrands!! Thank you lol.

Yumetenbo has been one of my fave online shops for a long time <3

    • Mitsu
      April 2, 2010 / 7:13 pm

LOL yeah I’ve seen that a lot of lolitas like mbok, but haven’t heard my gyaru chatter. Are you still doing lolita?

      • April 3, 2010 / 8:46 am

Thank you so much for that post, so useful for more!
I really like Yumetenbou sites, they also sell shoes in LL (me :/) that are quite similar to some from 109, I was so sad that it wouldn’t be possible for me to buy this adorable shoes at 109, and at Yumentenbou they’re so cheap!!! I’ll definitely try this when I’m in Japan!

Thank-you for the mbok links<333 It makes searching SO much easier ;; It was thanks to y!j that I got my two W<3C shirts as a gift from my BF :D Although I jsut got a foundation stain on one and tried to get it out but there's this faded spot now and I'm not sure if it's from cleaning or the foundation still or if I should throw it in the wash or what ;___;? (it's the i don't like spring shirt with the huge embroidery that I'd worry about being in the wash) Any advice u.u?

But anyway 8D; Thanks again for all the information! I want to try and find the micket Glad News stole *o*~!

  14. April 1, 2010 / 5:24 am

The links are really useful, I might try some of them out in the future!
I´ve always thought of buying from Yumetenbou because I liked many of their items and I think I´ll do it now that you said it was good

  15. April 1, 2010 / 10:35 am

 thaaaank you, I’ve been trying to find this WC sweater ever since I saw it in Jille, it was sold out!!!

I found it finally!! in green too! aahh! Yahoo auctions didnt have it. Oh boy i think im going to get it :korila:

  16. April 1, 2010 / 2:29 pm

I loove this post, thank you! I always wished to find a better alternative for shoppingmalljapan. I was sad to find out that I couldn’t order from the two Yumetenbou shops when I first found out about Rakuten, they had most of the stuff I wanted. But now that I know a better shipping service I probably will, sooner or later :3. I also didn’t know about mbok, so that’s always nice! I never liked shopping at Yahoo! Japan for some reason, maybe all those missed videogame auctions/inflated prices have something to do with that, haha.

  20. April 2, 2010 / 10:43 am

Ah, been googling away here for a bit now, but I thought I maybe could just ask you :o

Does yumetenbou take banktransfer -only-? Or could you pay in other ways? I’m lazy and don’t wanna go and get one.. just yet XD

Hi, I love the site mbok, especially because I am searching for a Rick Owens Jacket, and they have the one I want. But my problem is that I am from Denmark, and don’t understand a word of Japanese:-(. Does anybody know an English auction site?

    I hope you can help!

Great blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would
really make my blog shine. Please let me know where you got your design.
    With thanks
