Gal around the web & 7 Summer Beauty Faves

I really appreciate all the lovely comments on Daily Mitsu posts. :loveword: Waking up the next morning and reading them tastes sweeter than a latte and warms my heart more than any Starbucks product could :korila: A lot of ladies commented on my nails and I’ve been meaning to get my collection together in one place.

Well it took 3 pages, but here are all my Gal Nails:

Gal Web

Some talented bloggers have really been putting out great posts that I feel guilty keeping such great reads to myself.

The ever lovely bloomzy updated about a highly prejudicial article on kid gyaru and prettiness of the new Candydoll releases

Twitter buddy & sexy gal Alanna posted a tutorial and info on eyeliner. She must give me her great eyebrows :!:

So chic it hurts Keikk of Hautekeikk lets you be a wardrobe voyeur and peer at her gal clothing wants. Her creative eye is not to be missed.

With one day left on Hana‘s giveaway you should run over to her site to peer at the giveaway and also enjoy her well-written posts on topics from food to fashion. Also her guest blog of the recent Lady Gaga concert is fabulous eyecandy.

SaraMari of Moments Like Diamonds is not only one of the warmest people on the web, but is currently in Tokyo and she’s blogging her Tokyo coordinates. Fabulous photography reveals she rocks the WC “Ugly” hat and she also got a scrunchie from the Lip Service x Sunklus collaboration

I feel quite selfish when gal ladies don’t know about Mada and her great make-up blog. Her tutorials are gems for being both indepth and beautiful. Okay I’m selfish, but Mada I want more of them!!

Siru of Sweetheart Fashion recently changed to Finnish which gives me frowny faces. However, she has a beautiful clear since of how she wants to be in gal fashion. Great coordinates

Nat from Juicyblog always looks like she’s stepped out of the magazines. Always wonderful make-up and cute, adult-style coordinates make her my favorite French gal blog.

Shawna of Happy-Kiss (teehee Gokinjo references :stars: ) has been blogging about her recent trip to Japan. It has me feeling a bit natsukashii (nostalgic), but I am loving all of her fun pics. :cheery:

Violet Le Beaux is a Princess, damnit. I’ve nicknamed her the Hime Macguyver because she is the DIY queen. No dress can be left unpretty, no nail ungarnished, no project to large for SUPER VIOLET! I have no crafting bone in my body, so I live vicariously through this amazing girl. Her recent CanCan Hat tutorial left me speechless.

Miruku is a relatively recent blogger, but she has great pics and insight from a gaijin living in Japan. She recently blogged about her Golden Week Lip Service grab and the freebie Lip Service travel bag.

Shmoo has recently done 3 reviews on circle lens with light eyes. I love these! Grey Dizon Eyes (I want!!) Geo Nudy Grey and EOS Adult Violet. Gosh they all look gorgeous :o

Seven Summer Beauty Faves

Lately it seems like I’ve collected an arsenal of products in beauty warfare that I’ve really wanted to share. Especially since summer is upon us and we’re showing more of our beautiful bodies. Without further ado… seven godsends for summer beauty :sparkle2:

1. Mac Prolash Mascara

I am a MAC lover, and think they do amazing products. However, I had my doubts about their mascara. I mean so many companies throw millions into advertising and telling us exactly which mascara to use. They should do it better, right? :icon_eek:

I’ve been through so many: The Colossal, Fiberwig, Maybelline Pulse Perfection, Loreal Double Lash Extend etc… Either they were runny, clumped, or left me with Spider eyes. :^_^;;:

MAC Prolash has an extremely stiff brush. This is great for making sure mascara separates and keeps lashes from clumping together. It has some lengthening capabilities, but without the spidering Fiberwig can create. It also comes off easily with make-up remover (I couldn’t say the same about any Maybelline mascara).

2. Mac Moisturetint Foundation

I bought this for my Hawaii trip since sometimes I wanted to be out touring the city, but wearing a light foundation. This foundation moisturizes, has an SPF of 15, and feels like you’re not wearing make-up.

After my trip I find myself wearing this with a bit of concealer to cover blemishes and under eye discoloration. It’s feels good to switch to something that helps my skin while giving me a gentle summer coverage. It’s fun to let your freckles show for summer :cheery:

3. Bath and Body Works – Eucalyptus and Spearmint Sugar Scrub

If you’re going to real tan or fake tan, this is my best recommendation. Even if you’re not, your skin will love you for it. This sugar scrub is great to use after shaving to really exfoliate. It’s got oils in it which soothe the skin, while the sugar scrubs dead skin off.

My skin feels amazing after using this. My man asks to touch my arms because they’re so soft. I’ve told friends and they’re amazed skin can feel so smooth.

You’ll tan more even after using this and your skin will thank you. :cheery:

I even packed this to go to Japan with me. I barely packed any beauty products thinking I’d buy and I needed the room, but I sacrificed space for this heaven in a jar.

4. Flora by Gucci

The perfect Spring scent that smells floral without smelling like garden or your grandma.

5. Lush Shampoo Bar in Godiva

I had my doubts about this product. I mean scrubbing a bar on hair? Seems bad for it. Except I was desperate, my shampoos kept making my hair feel so dry scraped of nutrients after using them.

This bar is so cleansing and nourishing. It lasts for so long! It’s been 3 months and I’ve got half left. For 9.95 you’ll have it for months. It travels really well, too!

6. Lush Hair Mask – Marilyn

Made especially for blondes, this hair mask combs in easily and my hair felt softer after using it. I just dip a throwaway comb in and then comb through my hair. It’s so easy to use and you can save your hair while you’re reading this blog

7. Shea Butter

I bought my fair trade Shea Butter from Whole Foods. I prefer to buy natural items to use on my body, so this simple moisturizer was perfect for me.

According to Wikipedia Shea Butter has claims of “fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, severely dry skin, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretchmarks, wrinkles, and in lessening the irritation of psoriasis”

I use it on my legs, since it’s a thick moisturizer that doesn’t pill up or get gooey. Since it’s summertime it helps me feel a bit more confident about my legs and tightens skin.

Fess up about your favorite beauty items

Since I’ve let you know my secrets, tell me yours! What’s your favorite skincare of make-up item that you feel needs recognition. Either comment here or blog about it  The more weapons in my beauty arsenal, the better

Thank you so much for linking me, you are so sweet !! :hearts2: I’ll keep up with the circle lens review, I have 3-4 pair I can still review~ hehe

My favourite weapon would be soap that I brought back from France! They are made out of milk from female donkeys and essential oils! The one I’m using right now smells like cinnamon <3

Happy to do so! Let me know when you do them, so I can link them. I hope to get together a link database on all reviews on circle lens for light eyes :-D

I <3 you Mitsu! :D I have to check out the Lush hair mask, I am always looking for new hair treatments because of the blonde. I'm so going to blog my favorites this week :D

Ooo looking forward to it. I need all the beauty help I can get

  3. May 6, 2010 / 6:37 pm

I am in love with all your nail sets  ! I love the Tuxedo & Hello Kitty bow ones especially. And I’m thinking of going blonde this Summer (at least partially), so I’m thinking of investing in Marilyn! :cheery:

My favourite weapon is Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer. It leaves my skin so smooth after I use it, and sometimes it’s even enough to wear by itself

      May 8, 2010 / 5:54 pm

Thank you so much about your recommendation! I had just ran out of primer and kept putting it off since I wasn’t absolutely sold on my current one. I just bought the Smashbox and loved all their different formula choices :-D :hearts2:

  4. May 6, 2010 / 8:41 pm

I have to say your skin care choices match well with mine- Coconut oil and shea butter are like, my crack, anything else makes me break out. I’ll have to try some of these!! :3

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:27 pm

God I know it. I think breakout and my skin is like…. you called? Sure we’ll breakout! How are you using the coconut oil?

  5. May 6, 2010 / 10:03 pm

regular sugar as a sweet natural exfoliant (on face or body) and vaseline for moisturizer, since i started using vaseline ive gotten non-stop comments from friends how my skin is the softest theyve ever felt/jelousy. its totally “my boom”. ;)

    • Mitsu
      May 8, 2010 / 5:55 pm

Wow! What a cheap solution! I might have to succumb to trying it although I’ve tried to ban sugar in my house. We’ll see if I can let it back in for skincare

      • May 9, 2010 / 11:58 am

haha you’ll have to put it in a different bottle and label it something silly like “facial sand” or something, keep it hidden in the bathroom so you wont be tempted :)

        • Mitsu
          May 12, 2010 / 3:27 pm

Facial Sand LOLOL omg that’s priceless. I am tempted to make my own fancy label now :-D

  6. May 6, 2010 / 11:53 pm

Wahh! So many awesome blogs! Now I have even MORE to follow… (and I laughed hard at the “Hime MacGyver”, it’s so true…!)
It’s my goal for my own blog to become awesome enough to be featured here!!

I’m excited about the various makeup/body stuff recommendations, I really want the scrub!! haha.

      May 12, 2010 / 3:29 pm

She amazes me each time I read her blog. The old adage “Idle hands are the Devil’s Tools” makes me think Violet is really really evil, but she’s terribly sweet since she crafts all the time :-D

If you have any gal info people should know about, let me know and I’m always happy to shout out for useful information :-D

  7. May 7, 2010 / 2:21 am

Wonderful selection of products there. I love all of Lush’s hair/skin products, make everything glow and feel so soft.

The one thing I use a lot is Borjouis’ Highlighting powder, it’s great for giving a fresher, lighter looking complexion. A big fan of Body Shop’s foundations too, they’re very good for keeping your pores clear but your skin looking even and feeling soft!

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:30 pm

I need a new highlighting powder. I was using Chanel’s but it’s just white and it’s not giving me that “glow” that I expect. I’ll definitely check it out :-D

  8. May 7, 2010 / 5:54 am

I like that you use a lot of lush/natural products, they’re my faves too.
Do you guys get the Body Shop over there? I know it’s a British store but I think it has branched out – it’s all natural products with no animal testing and they do a gorgeous Sakura perfume.
I also love cocoa butter moisturiser, it really is amazing :stars:

I was just wondering if there are any concealers you have tried and used in Japan?!
As I will need some in Japan but I have to use a very light shade….I’m probably more likely to find one in Japan as it’s really hard here, but I thought I would ask.

      May 12, 2010 / 3:34 pm

LOL yeah it’s everywhere. In my high school days I was addicted to their Dewberry soap and now they don’t seem to carry it. I was crushed :x

If I had make-up needs beyond eyeshadows, fake eyelashes, shimmer powders, and mascara I always went to the Tokyu Hands make-up zone. All fancy department stores carry MAC + the other high brands. I dyed my hair this vibrant screaming red violet last year and I was struggling on what were good eyeshadows that didn’t clash and I was really amazed by the MAC ladies.

As a bonus, most of the MAC ladies at Tokyu Hands in the Shibuya station seemed quite gal. My make-up girl from my violet hair freakout was wearing the same shoes I was in from Esperanza :-D

      • May 15, 2010 / 6:13 am

Thank you, I will check them out :)

  9. May 7, 2010 / 6:09 am

Ah, thank you so much for mentioning me! Kisses! It really makes me happy, because you are such a great blogger so you totally just made my night :)

And I am with you…SHEA BUTTER for EVERYTHING. haha. I need to buy more, I recently used up my big haul of it…but it is so expensive argh. I also love Avene for skincare (they are a French line that keeps away from chemicals so so great totally rec them!) as they are great for sensitive skin (my skin is the kind that breaks out if I get stressed, if the weather changes, etc…so they are my fallback to keeping clear).

You are the second person I`ve seen (gal blog-wise) do this and I think it is great! I can find so many new blogs (though I knew some on your list I definitely didn`t know them all).

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:41 pm

Wow Avene looks great! I’ve been trying to switch my daily routine skincare since I’m not happy with my results. I changed mostly to Murad, but Avene’s prices look great and I really like how they break down their skin care products. Their eyecream and cleanser sound fabulous!

  10. May 7, 2010 / 10:24 am

Wow, thank you so much for mentioning me. My blog isn’t even one month old yet so I really appreciate the link. Actually, until I read this I couldn’t figure out why my readership had tripled in one day, haha! I like the look of 1 and 2, the MAC products. My current mascara is probably older than it should be…!

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:42 pm

LOL Well I’m always happy to highlight gals living in Japan. I love when anyone has new gal info or pics to show.

  11. May 7, 2010 / 5:45 pm

Thank you so much for including me in your list, I feel so honored and happy. Hehe, you are so sweet. And thank you for posting all the links to the blogs, I had a great time going through them and meeting new bloggers, reading new things^^

I think I could use that bath and body works sugar scrub, my skin is not as soft as it used to be before I lost my weight. I sure it has to do with my nutrient and water intake.

I hope you will have a wonderful weekend and take care! hugs!

    • May 7, 2010 / 5:46 pm

Oh! And it’s so great seeing all your nails together in 3 pages, I just love all the different styles and colors you’ve had!

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:44 pm

Have you noticed a difference pre workout schedules and now? I haven’t but it makes me wonder since with Spring workouts I’m always worrying about summer so I’m obsessing over my skin. That sugar scrub is amazing and so good after shaving :-D

  12. May 8, 2010 / 12:46 pm

Long time I don’t coment here
Did the MAC Mascara is really good? I hear a review that they make your eyelashes glue each other -_-
I use too Lush Hair Mask, I think that’s why my hair doesn’t look so dry sometimes :korila:

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:45 pm

      Hey again!

I looked at several reviews and that isn’t a complaint any listed. It’s definitely not one I have. If anything it’s busy separating lashes and I definitely haven’t lost any.

  13. May 8, 2010 / 1:45 pm

Those nails are all too fabulous! Too bad I can’t wear my nails long.

Anyway, I love everything and anything from Lush. Never ever has my skin/hair felt so good. Practically my whole skincare/shower regime is from Lush.

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:46 pm

    Your nails look fabulous!

I never thought of the sugar scrub as a way to help you tan! I had always been told to avoid exfoliation since it will scrub your tan off. But I guess tanning products will go on better and absorb more with fresh skin. I’m totally going to have to pick up some Shea Butter, too.

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:47 pm

Exactly! Sugar scrub and waxing are the best ways to make sure you tan deeply. I definitely see a difference when I sugar scrub to when I don’t. A much deeper tan from less time, which I guess is great for skin (and me) in the end :-D

  16. May 10, 2010 / 7:26 pm

    Love this post! :hearts2:
I’m definitely going to check out a couple of the products you mentioned & I never knew shea butter did all those things!! :-D I think I should invest in a jar for myself too, haha~

    • Mitsu
      May 12, 2010 / 3:48 pm

And shea butter is pretty cheap! I love it :-D

This is a great post! Especially the skin care items, namingly 3 and 7 because I’ve got pretty rough skin -_-. I’d like to get my hands on those.

And also, the blog recommendations are wonderfull as well, lots of lovely gals with awesome tips. It’s interesting to see how different personal style can be. :hearts: And the nails! I love DIY nails the best because I always do my nails myself. Maybe I’ll start a blog based on nails, haha

      May 12, 2010 / 3:52 pm

      OMG PLEASE DO!
I love nail eye candy! My only gal nail eyecandy is usually from magazines so I’d love to see more. Especially from overseas gals :hearts2:

Shea Butter + sugar scrub and you will never have rough skin again. I had this really big rough patch on my elbow that for a year I couldn’t get rid of. No matter what kind of thick lotion or scrub I used. I called it my horn. But then I started using that sugar scrub and horn no more! :-D

        May 12, 2010 / 6:06 pm

Haha, I probably will then, once I buy some more nail deco materials. :star:

And I’m so getting those products. I have a bit of rough elbow sydrome as well so I suppose it’ll help me!

  19. May 13, 2010 / 10:39 am

Awww your too sweet,I blushed when i saw this:DThank you.
Lots of lovely blogs for me too check out too:)

Loving this meme, looks like funXD I will have to have a go.After reading this I’ve now got my eye on Mac Moisturetint Foundation,i was um-ing and ah-ing about tinted moisturisers but you’ve swayed me.I’m still considering your recommendation for the studio fix but think that would be nicer for summer. So thank you for mentioning itXD
Also seeing if i can hunt down some pure shea butter, sounds amazing!XD
