What were they thinking?! Early Fall edition

As your loyal gal fashion blogger I’m always looking at gal clothing websites to check out the newest pieces and info. However there are times when I’d like to unsee some of the clothing I uncover. :worry:

Bloomzy and I started tweeting about the bad & ugly of gal during Spring season and it seems gal brands can’t stop themselves in Fall either. So I thought I’d share some of the more misfortunate pieces of the bunch.

Now while I do think some of these items are downright hideous, most I think with a stellar coordinate would be still cool. Still it’s fun to air out a bit of the dirty laundry

Moussy is calling this a “Girl Scout Hat”. I was a girl scout and I don’t remember wearing an Alpine hat while stuffing myself with cookies and earning badges. It’s something that should be part of a Ricola commercial. :sage:

Moussy tries to burn our eyes again with this macrame wonder. My grandmother in the 70s I think made doilies like this :worry:

Help the Cookie Monster has been scalped! Gilfy makes this vest fit for a Seasame Street character.

Now obviously I’m alone in my sentiments since these boots by Gilfy sold out.

However, I personally do not want to recreate sleeping inside a Tauntaun :worry:

Gilfy decided we could all look like 1950s gangsters. I have decided that is a no-no. :sage:

It seems I must stay on a Star Wars theme because Chewie would love the ones in brown when his hair falls out.

You, too, can look like you bedazzled your Army/Navy store find. This coat is so frumpy it deserved a spot among the rejects, next time Dazzlin :worry:

Don’t get me wrong, this is perfect for casual Village People cosplay (kudos Dazzlin). I admit I have a few gay friends would wear that top and strut.

However, sparkle and a cheap fold over sweatshirt is not fashion. :worries:

I don’t need to say anything but: denim balloon shorts. How awkward are these. Thanks Rodeo Crowns.

Trust the most expensive shoe brand in 109 (Pool Side) to make the most hideous thing. Double fringe?! Extreme useless tie?! Open toed?!

I know Japan is meticulous about keeping their streets clean, but to stoop to this. It’s cruelty!

:sage:

Well if your stomach is still intact after all of that, give yourself a handclap :hands:

If you’re still feeling queasy how about a unicorn chaser in the form of Ageha model Rin modeling for Tralala Fall collection (1, 2, 3, 4) :cheery:

Lawd, someone give me some smelling salts and let’s discuss

Giveaway is still open!! (enter here) Remember a blog entry gets you an extra entry, tumblr okay  If tumblr please reblog my original post here

Oiiiii, those Pool Side boots are HORRID. Star Wars comments made me laugggggggggh for an hour or so. Tauntaun boots and Chewie boots are so funny. Don’t like them at all though. That “Girl Scout” hat just did it for me though. That thing is just terrible.

Seriously, what WERE these people thinking?

  2. Hina says:

I think those denim shorts are adorable. And those Gilfy boots could be hot if the wearer was fierce enough. That Gilfy vest and Dazzlin coat though… I mean, who seriously looked at their bath mat and though “Yes, that would be a great vest.” :^_^;;:

    • Mitsu says:

There’s definitely a few things in this bunch people could rock, but alone they do turn me the wrong way. Balloon shorts tend to be a bit unflattering and the denim would look heavy and probably not puff so much irl but sag and saggy hot pants seems not so good :-S

  3. bloomzy says:

Haha I want to make this series famous, they’re always fun to do and everyone needs to know that Gal IS NOT perfect all the time XD

There are so particularly nasty items there and I can’t say I like any of them.
I’m so proud of you :happydance:

  4. Ligaya says:

I dunno, the Gilfy oxfords look pretty okay actually. Mainstream, but they can’t be as bad as the furry Gilfy boots, the moccasin disaster of Poolside, or all of those monstrosities by Dazzlin. @_@

    • Twinkle says:

I looove those Gilfy oxfords. I’m glad they come in monotone as well.

But I’m totally going to hate this furry everything trend. Ugh. :worry:

    • Mitsu says:

It’s the mainstream that I’m not too fond of. And well, I just hate seeing flat shoes in gal because then you realize how tiny some of the girl’s legs are walking the streets of Tokyo and it’s just not appealing to me -_-

      • Ligaya says:

@Twinkle: You’re after my own heart! Also, I must obviously be getting old (or tired easily at least) because flats are appealing to my long pudgy legs.

@Mitsu: Really? I dunno, I’ve no problems seeing thin girls wearing flats. If anything I’ve noticed that flats make legs look pudgier, while heels make them look slimmer… :-S

  5. Psu says:

WOOOWW Pocahontas would love those Pool Side boots!!!

  6. I’m totally a fan of those Gilfy boots but everything else is pretty fugly.

  7. Tori says:

That hat actually made me think of Robin Hood first, haha :x Yuckkk~

  8. Sheri Kasch says:

    I like the gilfy boots ( ^o^)

you just have to be careful with
what you would wear them with.

the rest I agree though. :|

    • Mitsu says:

I agree, I did say some of the things I think could work with the right coordis, but they are offputting alone IMO :panda:

  9. ran says:

    love the last boots !!!

  10. fuzzy boots were popular in high school! But… it looks like it needs decoration… like suede decorative ties or something, otherwise they look like leg warmers!!

I think the fringe boots COULD have worked… maybe without the open toe and double fringe =__= That is just redundant!

  11. Punkgnome says:

I agree everything. ESPECIALLY THE SHORTS. XD oh gawd, those denim bubble shorts. Just so…..weird! Gal stores are trying to make us look like walkin, furry, fashion nukes.

  12. Kanako_ageha says:

    ugh? are they for real?
    I can somewhat agree x__X
    Don’t really like it! >_<
and yes, ricola commercial hahaha XD

  13. kiki-sama says:

God save shoes. I never saw such hideous boots in my life. I know fur is a theme this fall but seriously those shoes just of fur ‘star wars style’ as you said just make me cry…oh and poolside could have avoided the overdoing of their boots… I guess for the rest it’s passable if you wear it with something nice (exept the scout hat thing i just don’t get that.)
Oh well gyaru fashion seems to have it’s ups and downs too… :-S

  14. Kati says:

I just can’t get over that cookie monster vest.. it’s effin’ HORRID and it’s by Gilfy?? what the hell indeed.. it’s like so, SO 90′s! And I think the Gilfy boots would be hot, IF you removed the fur and let them just be boots.

    • Mitsu says:

It’s not particularly hideous in the black, but once I saw it in the purple it was really eye scarring :^_^;;: Oh well, something for winter sales possibly :worry:

  15. miu says:

eww… poolside boots and gilfy vest

and that first hat looks like something robin hood would wear!

i do like the fur boots by charmant though, they look rather cozy for winter.
the brogues look smart but not very gilfy at all :/

    • Mitsu says:

The Gilfy brouges aren’t bad and aren’t out of style outside of gal, but I just don’t prefer them inside of gal :worries:

  16. kari says:

i also thought “Robin Hood!” with the hat!

god, everything on here is awful… well done! :happydance:

  17. Sara Mari says:

Haha! I am glad I am not alone when my brain went “Robin Hood!!” at that first hat. I mean I would wear it though, just for the strangeness :cat:

I agree with you on everything really, it seems like the designers didn’t have much inspiration or something for these items. The fur stuff is ugly, but I think thats the way it’s going to be haha :bowhouse:

    • Mitsu says:

hahahhaa yes give designers a giant fluffy texture and it’s like Dr. Suess green eggs and ham. Can I put it on a coat? How about from a st :yayblush: oat? Can I put it on a skirt? And not look like too much of a flirt? Or something like that

  18. Yoshi3329 says:

That girl scout hat reminds me of Robin hood. :worry:

Glad I’m not the only one…

  19. Katrin says:

the sold-out gilfy boots reminds me of an alpaca :S

  20. Suteisi says:

Omg! Hahahah! Those puffy shorts! Haha! Hilarious!! :happydance:

I agree on everything. It all looks really horrible. LOL Thanks for the laugh Mitsu~

  21. ThomasVye says:

I love the Tauntaun boots! Hilarious! Awful yet hilarious!

  22. Nicolette says:

    I love those oxfords, actually.
But I agree with everything else, especially the Gilfy vest (soooo disappointed!)

  23. bianca says:

to each their own I guess so are pretty bad like the furry purple vest that wouldn’t look cute on anybody. But I LOVE THAT HAT the pleating, the details it’s so cute and so vintage, My mom is a milinery artist so I was born with ia hat on :D the oxfords are to die for too. I like the scarf too, so I suppose if it’s retro I am in love XD

    • Mitsu says:

See I love that you find the joy in things like that! Personal connections with items always make fashion so much lovelier :heart2: I will admit that after seeing a pair of green shorts I kind of want that hat just out of silliness and I too have a love of hats :saychu:

  24. Malyce says:

Call me crazy but I LOVE the Gilfy fur boots and Dazzlin’s take on the half Army shirt. The rest however…. :?: I do have to give kudos to the gal community though for always taking it to the next level. Can’t wait to see more fall stuff! The good and the bad… :hearts:

    • Mitsu says:

hehehe I would be curious how both were coordinated. I can’t think of good ones, but those are my limitations. I’d love to see those pieces I don’t particularly care for done right tho :heart2:

  25. yuri says:

ur post made me smile

  26. Chrissie says:

I was looking at the furry boots and thinking that if I saw them peeping out from the bottom of a restroom stall door, I would totally blurt out, “Why is Chewbacca in the girls’ room…?” before realizing what they were. XD But really, even if there are people out there who like and are buying these pieces, I’m going to have to pass on all of them. Ugh. >_<

    • Mitsu says:

hahaha I don’t know if I’d blurt it out, but it’d definitely be in my thoughts. I know they’re warm, but geez

  27. hkittygirl says:

I don’t remember having to wear those hats during Girl Scouts. I remember trying to outsell the rest of the girls while selling cookies.

  28. Magda says:

Ahahahahahhhhh!! XD I loled at the fringed beige boots… open toe! XDDDD OMG, that’s simply too much! xD

But I do like the dazzlin coat! It is very simple, but would look lovely over a short girly flowery all in one, like dazzlin makes, don’t you think? :)

    • Mitsu says:

I would like the concept, except it’s so shapeless. I think girls would be swallowed up in that which I don’t know if it’s too flattering even with the lovely girly skirts and onepieces they do. :worry:

  29. Leanne says:

No!! the hat is lovely exept for the braid – the military look is huge, and I like this cap, esp in the turquoise colour. Likewise the brogues I quite like…and I’ve seen them EVERYWHERE in Tokyo on this visit. But the crochet not so much, or many of the others. Open toed boots – just no.

    • Mitsu says:

I think it’s the material and braid compared to the other military hats I’ve seen. The green is a bit too Robin Hood (like others have said). Not the nice Olive that could better represent a military feel. Calling it a girl scout hat makes it a bit less military as well although I’m not sure the designers have a concept of girl scouts maybe 8)

I just have to personally say no to the brouges in gal fashion. While they are popular in other styles, I just can’t see them meshing well with gal. But then again I’ll see a good coordinate and maybe change my mind.

Again these are just personal comments on outfits and I did say first I think many of the pieces could be great with the right coordinate, alone I do have questions about them. :stars:

  30. Miki says:

I actually like those 1950s gangster shoes. XD

  31. Shion says:

You should get your own fashion talk show with funny commentary like that! XD keep it up! I’m loving these posts! :cat:
