Eyelash Review: NYX Nicorun & Jewerich 01

Reviewing two packs of eyelashes I’ve gotten and had a month to test these out. One, by Jewerich, has been making the English and Japanese speaking gal blogosophere rounds with lots of hype. The other, NYX “Princess Tiara” produced by Nicorun, have barely been getting any talk.

I thought they’d be great to talk about together because they’re similar styles and have the same price: 1260 yen (around $15.00). These are the two brands trying to compete with Tsubasa produced Dollywink for the gal fancy eyelash buying.

Short & sweet review: That’s really a shame. NYX Eyelashes are great.

official site: http://www.makeupfashion.jp/princesstiara/

Princess Tiara brand has 3 top lashes and 2 bottom lashes. I’m reviewing #2 :stars:

Jewerich set of three lashes and eyelash glue is their current line-up (more info on a change below) :star2: I’m reviewing #1

website: http://www.jewerich.jp/

Adorable packaging with a sweet girly style.

NYX Nicorun Produce

Nicorun produced NYX lashes.
Back of the lash case. NYX big seller is having a 4th pair for addition volume. Pictures show with and without volume.

Important note: Jewerich has 2 lashes for the price of 4 lashes for Princess Tiara

Eyelash Comparison

Both lashes out of their packaging in the trays.

Look at how shiny the plastic of the packaging is, and how MATTE both sets of lashes are. Shiny = fake, so both have passed the instant fake test.

I was really impressed just how matte both of these are. Along with MAC lashes (which are real hair) they’re probably the most matte lashes on the market.

Lash to lash comparison

You can tell that the Jewerich is longer width-wise. However it doesn’t curl much, the NYX pair is much curlier.

Both are about the same length coming out from the eye.

Shown on my eyes

warning: omg pores! To give you the most macro exact picture is so make you get up in my pores. :worry:

Actually it’s my goal not to photoshop me on this blog other than levels. :worries:

Jewerich top with decorative bottom lashes.

The lash band was very stiff and the lashes too long. Longer than Dollywink I think.

Shown only on top. You can see the length and width of the lashes easily without all that bottom lash fuss.

Nicorun produced NYX

The NYX lashes feel much thicker and longer than the Jewerich kind. Very drag.

With my eyes closed you can really see how thick and heavy they are.

Using the “extend” other version of the lashes with a small bit of purple from Lip Service’s old lashes. It’s very natural gal (except for the purple) hehee.

Personal Choice

I really love the NYX lashes. They stayed on well, applied easily, and really made a bold gal statement without having to pile on the eyeliner. Would I buy them again? Yes, although maybe a different style from the NYX produced Nicorun line. I really liked how matte they were and how well they attached to my eye.

Even though the volume lash pair was not so statement worthy, you did get 4 pairs of lashes for 1260 yen. Popular discount brand Diamond Lashes, which are shiny and cheap at 5 pairs for 1260 yen. Compared with NYX the price is pretty comparable.

Jewerich were just too difficult and too long. I love long eyelashes so I can extend them out of my eye, but these were excessively long. At times I also “felt” these on my eyes. For those of you who daily wear eyelashes, you understand after a while you do not notice them. I noticed these :worry:

I said that, then I saw the coming soon eyelashes. The ones on the far right, soooo cool!

I also like Ikemegu doing ads for them

  2. November 7, 2010 / 3:49 pm

Thanks for the review!! I wish I was in Japan now so I could get my hands on alllll those lashes! XD Need to get some super light but long and nice lashes… <33

I know! When I was living back in the states I felt so cut off from such great gal cosmetics :rushed: Although Ichibankao stocks the Jewerich :heartshake:

  3. November 7, 2010 / 3:51 pm

    Oohh they are pretty!!
    and really dramatic!

    super lovely :D

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:45 pm

Definitely dramatic, but hey that’s why they’re speciality lashes hehee :hearts2:

  4. November 7, 2010 / 3:54 pm

Whilst I like them both, out of the two I think I prefer the NYX and they look the best on you in my opinion :hearts:

      November 7, 2010 / 4:46 pm

I agree! Jewerich just sit weirdly a lot of the time. Lash band is too thick :depressed:

  5. November 7, 2010 / 3:55 pm

    Nicorun’s lashes are amazing
I really like all of them but I want to try first Dolly Wink lashes :happydance:
Have you ever used Dolly Wink? if the answer is yes, What is your oppinion about these? :curiousmo:
    xoxo~♥ :kumatan:

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:47 pm

Yup I’ve used lots of Dolly Wink lashes. I like the length, but I don’t feel they’re worth it anymore. I’ll be reviewing a cheap alternative to one pair of them though that I do recommend :hearts3:

  6. November 7, 2010 / 4:00 pm

Thank you for this! I always thought the Jewerich lashes looked so pretty but the Dolly Wink ones are long enough & I hate doing lash surgery, haha :^_^;;:

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:48 pm

hahahahaa lash surgery has to be the best term! Love it!

Yeah I am okay with lash surgery on bottom lashes, but top I had doing it unless I’ve worn the lashes several times first.

  7. November 7, 2010 / 4:03 pm

Far right and middle coming soon falsies look really cool!
They remind me of the Ranzuki freebies from October’s issue, actually.

Do they look like their quality is good? Or do they feel weak?

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:49 pm

I think they’re quality is okay, but too pricy for 2 lashes. I might still buy them though because like you those two are my favorite and look pretty original :bowhouse:

  8. November 7, 2010 / 4:06 pm

    Wow! Great review! love it!
I’m always searching for great new eyelashes. I guess I definitely will have to try out these! thanks! :korila:

Happy to share! The cute packaging gets me every time :heartshake:

  9. November 7, 2010 / 4:37 pm

Great review, but I think you should show photos of not only your eye, but your entire face, that way we can see the lashes’s effect better :cheery:
I’m happy someone talks about different eyelashes brands and not only Dollywink! They’re everywhere! xD

(omg my english sucks lol :worry: )

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:42 pm

I understand your sentiment about the whole face, but actually that doesn’t work so well. I think other pieces of my make-up take away from it. Also my place gets very awkward light that highlights one side of my face often. Logistics just don’t make that feasible right now :(

hehehe Dollywink are, but I think people in Japan are getting less in love with them now that there are so many options, especially cheaper options of the same lash type. :worries:

  10. November 7, 2010 / 4:46 pm

Personaly I don’t recomend NYX eyelashes. Ihope this ones from Nicorun are better than the pairs I have wear. :rila:

    • Mitsu
      November 7, 2010 / 4:51 pm

Oh you mean the American NYX ones? Oh yeah they are not good at all. These are totally different, quality and style wise. NYX America vs NYX Japan….NYX Japan wins hands down. Lots of different cosmetics that are good for gals by NYX Japan ♥

    November 7, 2010 / 5:16 pm

I bet the jewerich ones would be good for agejyo make up where you need them sticking out a crazy length :curiousmo:

  12. November 7, 2010 / 5:57 pm

Awesome review =3 where can i get the NYX ones?

    • Mitsu
      November 11, 2010 / 2:09 am

Good question. I haven’t found a site good for selling them. I might give them away in a giveaway soon though :yayblush:

  13. November 7, 2010 / 6:29 pm

Ugh I hate when I can tell the lashes are on my eyes. :x
The NYX ones seem really great, but is the lash line black? :curiousmo:

  14. November 7, 2010 / 6:58 pm

Whoa! These lashes look nice. But they are pretty expensive. >__<
Nicorun appeals more to me than Jewerich though.

  15. November 7, 2010 / 7:15 pm

I heard that the Jewerich eyelashes are a bit difficult/not so fabulous before. I guess I won’t be trying them myself XD The NYX lashes do look great though, and I’m glad to hear that they got a good review^^

The bottom lashes in the blue package look really nice/useful to me. Thank you for the review!

  16. November 7, 2010 / 8:08 pm

I love the NYX lashes, especially on you! they look like they’d be so much easier to use for daily wear.
Actually, my sister-in-law, who isn’t even into gyaru commented on it and said they look really awesome on you.

I only have one pair of lashes (free purikura lashes, ftw) but I’m thinking about investing in daily wears and you’ve given me a good idea of the kind I’d want!

btw, my sister-in-law and I were wondering what’s your natural haircolor? haha random question, I know.

  17. November 7, 2010 / 10:10 pm

I just did a post about Nicorun’s NYX lashes, but just focused on the makeup part :3 I’m glad you reviewed the Dolly type since those seem to be the most original looking ones (the others reminded me too much of Diamond Lash). It’s too bad you can only buy them from the company store online and they don’t ship international :/

I’ve heard really icky reviews about the Jewerich ones so I’m staying away from those >_>

I’m a big fan of NYX cosmetics as it is—love their blushes and single eye shadows—so I was really happy to see this review. I especially like that they include makeup tips on the back of each package. That’s something the other brands really can’t boast!

    Anyway, it’s a shame NYX probably won’t reproduce these Nicorun-designed lashes for their Western market. One of my biggest complaints about NYX lashes when I tried them here in America was that they were too shiny and plastic-like. D;

    Curious, have you tried ASTRAEA V. lashes? I’ve noticed Sakurina and a couple other models using them. They’re pretty expensive (¥1,344 for one pair, eep!), too, so I’m eager to know if they’re really worth it. XD;

  19. November 8, 2010 / 4:18 am

Oh! I’ve tried the Jewerich lashes before, the exact same ones you tried for a review on my blog! And I wholeheartedly agree, they’re awesome in terms of effects and such, but the spine is really really stiff that it kept pokin and irritatin my eyes no matter what i did. They are definitely longer then Dollywink that’s why they looks so much lusher and obvious, but the comfort level is so far from Dollywink.

The spines are also pretty flimsy, I destroyed my pairs after wearin it only once, becauae I kept ripping the spines apart while trying to remove the dried adhesive.

Do more lash reviews! I really look forward to readin them!

    too many different lashes!
    they all look so good~
Can’t wait to try them all myself too ^^

    Hello :)
    I usually don’t comment or anything but…
    I alway love your posts!
also, I’ve been trying to find an old post (maybe it was your blog?)
but it was about the trend with the shirt and then a fake shirt with sleeves to tie around the waist/bottom of the real shirt?

    thank you :kumatan:

  22. November 8, 2010 / 12:57 pm

Mitsuuuu this is totally off topic of your post, but what kind of comment system
are you using? I want to change mine to something similar where I can reply
    to a specific comment~

    • November 8, 2010 / 6:08 pm

They’re made by NYX Japan so they’re not available overseas :/
