For those of you who follow my twitter, know I’m alpaca obsessed. Judging by the tumblr reblogs and comments on last contest entry quite a few of you share my plush love. The Valentine’s ones are especially adorable. So I’m obsessed and I needed new nails. :upheart:
Nail Salon Bibi & the Alpaca nails
I decided to go to a new place Nail Salon Bibi. They had late hours and a hodai (all you can get) special. Their work and their price fit each other quite well. Not all salons do gal-type nails. Most actually don’t, or don’t advertise it. Some that do charge obscene prices. Instead Nail Salon Bibi was 9800 yen with everything included. I know that sounds like a lot, but Carry is offering a special right now that is 11500 with some things not included. Bibi was everything included: taking my old nails off, 3-d work, doing a gel coat. All of those things usually run extra at all other salons.
Nails just fresh from being done!
The rose design was hand painted on with guache done to match my dress I’m wearing for the Tokyo Girls Collection (so excited!). Everyone thinks it’s a stamp, but it was actually done with an extremely small paint brush.
That’s why they call it Nail ART!
The Alpaca was slowly built up and she went back on it and guached the cheeks for the blush.
The Alpaca next to its likeness. She did quite a great job!
Nail Salon BIBI is highly recommended. Although she and I didn’t match like Coco from Disco and we didn’t speak much (TV was on), which is a negative for me since any Japanese conversation practice I can get in I jump at it :butterfly: . However, I do think her talent is really amazing. You ask, she’ll do! They are located next to the giant recommended Shin Okubo Donki (which is actually easier to walk from Shinjuku East Exit through the host clubs to get to).
Meet Marie & all the Alpacas
My name is Mitsu, I blog about Japanese gal fashion, and I’m addicted to alpaca love! :worries:
It started with one and Uhhhhh just kind of grew :worry:
Most are from the Valentine’s collection. All of them were won for me (thanks Alice, Tom and Z :heartshake: ) I suck at UFO catchers.
The bigger ones are also SOOOOOO soft! It’s like rare animal soft. Like touching the last unicorn soft
My favorite pink family :waves:
The biggun, Marie, with my w♥c glasses. Her head is almost as big as my melonhead! She’s bigger than my cats! I didn’t name the others, but when a plush is this large, it gets a name!
Since my formspring has gotten a lot of Alpaca questions I thought I’d do a quick Alpaca FAQ here:
What are they? A plush toy found only in UFO catcher machines by the maker “Arpakasso”
Where can I get them? At your local game center if you live in Japan. If you don’t, your best bet is yahoo auctions or mbok auctions. I do not know if they are anywhere else on-line.
How much do they cost? Depends if you win them the first time or not but it’s between 100 yen to 500 yen to play once depending on the size :worry:
Can you win one for me? Nope! I suck! I have bad depth perception which is a key to doing well at it
Game Centers are somehow able to buy the giant alpacas which are not for sale or winning at their Game Centers. Mainly they’re for taunting addicted people like me who imagine the world’s best Rodeo with just stuffed alpacas. :yayforyay:
Here they are in a Shinjuku Kabukicho Game Center showing their Holiday spirit.
They also have Alpaca gear that’s not just plushes including these earmuffs and currently a diary with plushy alpaca cover.
So many cute Alpaca heads! :superhappy: I’m dying just looking at the picture and I took it :worry:
Are you an alpaca addict? If not, omg why? hehehee Just kidding, more for me
