Tsubasa and Kumicky clothing collaborations
Posted February 19th, 2011 by MitsuThe Queen (Tsubasa Matsuwaka) and current Princess (Kumiko Funayama) of Popteen have both put out capsule collections with brands. Both are currently onsale so let’s check them out.
Tsubasa Matsuwaka x Girls Doors
They’re on sale a bit early, but they will also debut at the Tokyo Girls Collection S/S 2011 which Tsubasa is modeling in. :upheart:
She’s only doing a small capsule collection (like she did for Gilfy a few years ago), but it’s in her more current style.
Preppy Coordinate
Cardigan, skirt and top all available for sale.
Cardigan ¥6,900 available in off white, green, burnt red and navy
Stripe shirt ¥5,700 available in pink, green, green, brown and red
Check skirt ¥ 4,900 available in grey, green, purple and red
Rucksack ¥5,700 available in green, dark green, camel, wine, brown and off white
French Marine coordinate
Scarf blouse ¥5,700 white, green, navy and black
Retro border skirt ¥6,800 available in green, beige and red
Fashion bits: The top coordinate is quite Rodeo Crowns brand style (a brand Tsubasa really loves) and the bottom is the pop-gal way of doing Retro Girly. Marine will feature in a lot of Retro Girly coordinates instead of pastels. The scarf blouse is amazingly popular in gal right now. I think even Glad News is doing one.
Both coordinates will be given a spread in the March issue of PopSister to be out in a few weeks. :upheart:

Kumiko Funayama (Kumicky) x Yumetenbou
Back in December Kumicky hosted a few called “Love Project Festa” which was mainly a fashion show with some of the show’s proceeds going to charity. At the fashion show she displayed her collaboration with mega popular discount gal on-line shop, Yumetenbou.

The sheer with floral print cardigan
Liz Lisa is doing a similar cardigan but the bolder rose print steps it a bit away from being too Liz Lisa copy.

Admittedly I find the heel a bit too stompy, but the lace shoe lace tie is quite cute. All Yumetebou shoes are cute, I bought the wedge oxfords in ivory.

I saw an ad for Tsubasa’s in 109 last week and just felt like it lacked a whole lot…I’m not impressed
I like the Kumickey vest and the shoes are ok. Like you said, they would be better with a different heel.

i like the cardigan from kumicky and blouse from tsubasa but both items seem pretty… generic? i guess i expect more because they’re such big names but that expectation usually isn’t fulfilled (especially with capsule collections.)
when i read the title i thought kumicky AND tsubasa did a collab together
lol but i think tsubasa’s collab is more practical…or maybe i’m just biased because i love tsubasa

I loved the preppy coord from Tsubasa, I have an almost identical cardigan but with a P instead of an M and looks cool with lots of things.
and the shoes… Kumickey why do you hate me? They’re LOVELY in every colour, it’s not rare they’re the best selling ones… :heartshake:
But I think I still prefer Tsubasa!!! Don’t know exactly why lol

A bit too tiny for me, I admittedly think she’s not as healthy of a body attitude for girls. Although her stature (height) is so cute. Tsubasa can really pose! She’s always been a good model posing, which cannot often be said in many Japanese magazines. Goo Tsuu!
Ah, so *that’s* why those shoes were on their top seller’s list! I saw them around the time they first came out, but I didn’t think much of them. Didn’t even notice who was on the pictures. Shows how desensitized I’ve become to seeing Kumickey, lol.
I guess I like Tsubasa’s preppy line best, which is weird, because I’m into Hime-kei.
But they’re all pretty lackluster to me.
hahaha well also I think so many girls nowadays have that sort of brown/blonde shade of hair that it really melds them together >__<
hmm although both collabs are cute, i’m more girly/hime-kei styled, so i would pick kumickey even though i love tsubasa haha~~ but i love floral prints a lot too haha~ the shoe idea is cute, but i saw someone’s photo of the real one, and the ribbon looked really cheap >__<"!!
Oh really? What a shame, although the shoes are incredibly cheap. 60% off what is in stores right now, so I guess some cost cutting measures had to be made >_<

Tsubasa’s preppy
Oh my gosh! I’m loving the preppy gal look! How funny that I was wondering just the other day what a gyaru’s take on “preppy” clothes would be. I’m normally into more adult, rocker-ish looks, but I love this. :hearts:
I like Tsu-chan’s preppy coordinate but is it juz me or does the marine outfit make her appear rather pudgy? I think it’s d cut of d skirt or smth. I noticed kumickey’s shoe collection but failed to realize it was actually a collab item, I juz figured she was the face for a new brand peanut once again haha
