Photo Friday – Brand Restaurants: Gucci Lunch

My friend Alice and I are brand fanatics. We love the character and history of brands and well as their classic designs, so one of the things we made sure to plan was to go to all the brand restaurants in Ginza, Tokyo. First one to talk about is Gucci’s Cafe.

Gucci – “The Single Man” Lunch

The only Gucci brand restaurant is in Gucci’s flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo. The 7 story complex dedicated to Gucci is opulent in its own right, but the restaurant is not to be missed.

Gucci serves a dinner menu and has lunch sets. Lunch sets are always cheaper so we went for lunch. If I remember correctly our meal for unlimited drink, bread, main course and dessert was 2,300 yen (around $27.00). Which is certainly pricey, but doable for a special day out.   They also serve coffee or desserts only if you want to check out the place. It seemed many older Japanese women came in and just ordered dessert and took pictures to enjoy.

If you’ve seen Tom Ford’s wonderfully directed movie “A Single Man”, you’ll notice similarities between the look of the cafe and the movie. Tom Ford left Gucci in 2004, and the restaurant opened in 2006, but somehow I still see Tom Ford in the styling.

The ceilings are so tall, especially for a place in Tokyo.

Gucci bears greeted us from an alcove outside the elevator to the cafe.

The place slowly filled up with mostly female patrons.

There was smaller seating for two or combined for larger groups in the center.

Screened windows offer a small view without blaring sunlight in.

I ordered the risotto and my friend Alice ordered the lasagna. We thought both were quite tasty.

For dessert the amazing Panna Cotta with edible flowers.

Alice's tiramisu which was super rich.

You can also get Gucci chocolates to go which come in a brand bag (just likes handbags) and wrapped in a fancy Gucci embossed print box.

More photos from dinner and chocolates at this flickr page if you’re curious

Next time: Chanel’s restaurant and Hermes’ cafe  :rila:

I stayed in the Courtyard Marriott Ginza last time I was in Japan, so I also went to many of the “brand” restaurants ^_^ ~

Have you been the Peko-chan dessert shop? It’s right across from Mikimoto in Ginza.

I haven’t! I usually stay away from dessert shops since it’s my weakness and if I have some I’ll want more and more and more. :(

Exactly! My friend and I at first were a bit apprehensive since we lack fanciness but it was a very nicely casual format, at least for lunch :)

So luxe, haha! I can definitely see the Tom Ford influences here too, hm… Maybe the Tokyo designers liked his style?

I agree! My friend and I want an LV one :)

  13. January 15, 2012 / 4:48 pm

Although I think this is pretty sweet and the restaurant itself is beautiful and sophisticated, I kind of think having Brand restaurants going a bit far on the brand marketing xD!!! I have to admit though…that Gucci printed tiramisu…*w* The food looks tasty! At least you got what you pay for (?) Can’t wait to see the Chanel and Hermes one!!

hehehe see you’re swayed! Well the brand stores in Ginza are several stories tall and I’m sure it’s nice to finish off some heavy shopping with a cake :)
