My friend Alice and I are brand fanatics. We love the character and history of brands and well as their classic designs, so one of the things we made sure to plan was to go to all the brand restaurants in Ginza, Tokyo. First one to talk about is Gucci’s Cafe.
Gucci – “The Single Man” Lunch
The only Gucci brand restaurant is in Gucci’s flagship store in Ginza, Tokyo. The 7 story complex dedicated to Gucci is opulent in its own right, but the restaurant is not to be missed.
Gucci serves a dinner menu and has lunch sets. Lunch sets are always cheaper so we went for lunch. If I remember correctly our meal for unlimited drink, bread, main course and dessert was 2,300 yen (around $27.00). Which is certainly pricey, but doable for a special day out. They also serve coffee or desserts only if you want to check out the place. It seemed many older Japanese women came in and just ordered dessert and took pictures to enjoy.
If you’ve seen Tom Ford’s wonderfully directed movie “A Single Man”, you’ll notice similarities between the look of the cafe and the movie. Tom Ford left Gucci in 2004, and the restaurant opened in 2006, but somehow I still see Tom Ford in the styling.
You can also get Gucci chocolates to go which come in a brand bag (just likes handbags) and wrapped in a fancy Gucci embossed print box.
