Photo Friday: Getting lost with apples in Nagano

Remember to subscribe to the Universal-Doll Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/UniversalDoll (affectionally known as “Dollface book”). Lately I’m posting everyday about small gyaru news like gyaru x hello kitty collaborations, Spring hair inspiration from an Osaka salon, and Vanquish shop staff coordinates.

This post deserves a bit of backstory. During my trip last November I decided to take a day trip to Nagano. One of the things I wanted to do was go see the snow monkeys.

I was rushing to make the tour bus that goes there so once I got on the bus I read the instructions about the monkey park. It was an hour drive to get there and then an 1 hour and a half hike to see the monkeys. Multiplying that by two in my head, I realized it would take 6 hours, it was already 2:30. I couldn’t possibly make it to dinner with Mirukut in Sendai!  :icon_eek:

However I was already on the bus!  :icon_eek: Full on panic mode ensued!  :icon_eek:

The bus driver when hearing my situation let me out in the middle of nowhere at a bus stop and told me the buses wouldn’t come until later that day so it was best to walk to a train station. Which he said was generally over there in a small neighborhood. With those simple directions I got out of the bus on the highway and I was alone on the side of the road on the outskirts of Nagano.  :icon_eek:

If you don’t feel like reading a story, just enjoy the pictures. But if not, scroll for descriptions.

Getting lost is good sometimes. You get to discover new places.

I actually ended up in Obuse 小布施 which reading about it now seems like a cool place, little did I know then :worries:

Wow! That apple orchard seems so nice to walk in! I would love pick one and eat it right there! I can’t believe the trains have mini TVs… O:

Oh my goodness, what a great (but kinda scary) adventure! Haha, you seem so brave to keep a dinner date with a friend for this situation – how thoughtful! :hands:

Its so scary to be walking around on your own in a foreign area, but the scenery certainly made up for it! Everything looks so lovely and out of the usual tourist-y stuff! The 3 most wanted criminals look like the ones wanted for the Sarine gas attack though I maybe wrong :/

This is crazy, and definitely the kind of thing I could see happening to me.
At least you got to explore a new area…shame it wasn’t warmer.

ghireohger the orchard looks so cute, and where you got out on the road, the view looks spectacular! I hope you made it for dinner with your friend in the end!

I love adventures like this! The first time I lived in Japan, my friend and I spent an afternoon at a public bath, then asked someone where to get the bus back to our station. He pointed across this massive intersection and said to take the one that stopped there every 40 minutes. Except he was wrong because, after racing across four lanes of traffic when the pedestrian sign was red (PSA: NEVER DO THIS) to leap on the bus… it was the wrong bus. And we ended up in some town we’d never seen before after dark.

We did eventually make it home, but it was ridiculous. We were cracking up like crazy people the entire time.

I really respect you! I can’t even think I could do this if I was in the situation…
