First of a series of nail tutorials. All three are based on something trending within gyaru style. This time being Halloween and creepy cute gyaru rock style.
This nail tutorial will show you step-by-step how to make Halloween nails like bones, spooky drips, and gyaru eyes. I choose this set because it’s based on 3 levels of difficulty so no matter how comfortable you feel about doing your nails you can do at least one of these. Also if you have at least 2 contrasting polishes and a bobby pin you have all the supplies you need.
The above three is what you’ll be doing. I think these are my non-dominant hand painted nails so you can get a lot cleaner.
Easiest – Bones Nails
Supplies needed: Two constrasting colors or more. A dotting tool for nail art, or a bobby pin, needle or safety pin.
While a dotting tool is great, you don’t need it necessarily for this easy one. Instead you can use an object from around your house to make these work. Bobby pins tend to work the best. I did these all with just a dotting tool and nail polish.
It’s really easy to do. Bones look organic so you can look a bit messy if you want.
Medium Difficulty – Gerlan Jeans Inspired Drip Nails
Materials needed: Two contrasting colors, dotting tool (same as above)
I debated on whether or not to make this the easier one, but in practice it requires a bit more of a lighter hand. I’m sure everyone has seen the traditional drip-style on nails and it’s a bit overplayed. However I feel like this rift of the Gerlan Jean’s Oil Slick print (that JSG copied) is more refreshing and looks prettier.
I love the red. I might have to do that on its own sometime!
Hardest Difficulty – Gyaru Eyes
Why Gyaru eyes? The lashes of course! Also you can really circle lens them up if you want. The Wah Nails eyeball is one of their signature styles, but I decided it’s a bit creepy and could use a little more cute. I did these intentionally using only my dotting tool, if you use a paintbrush it’s a lot cleaner. However, I didn’t know how many readers had one, so I’m doing it with minimal supplies to show you how exactly they look with those supplies.
The eyeliner line, eyeball, highlights, lines, and eyelashes were all done using the dotting tool. The eyelashes were made just the same way as the drip nails above.
For some reason my red nail polish smears with clear coat. GUH annoying!
