WC Spring / Summer Runway
Posted December 20th, 2012 by MitsuW♥C (ダブルシー) produced by Wakatsuki Chinatsu (若槻千夏) (site) had a runway show at the actual Japan Fashion Week. Previous gyaru brands have dipped their toes into high fashion catwalks like Liz Lisa. But this was the first for w♥c. While I’m a bit curious how a lot of these clothes will actually translate into ready-to-wear.
The theme is a 1970s Italian movie called Sunflower with Sophia Loren (wiki). The look taken from the film is a country doll. (source)

LOL Her shirt says “Designer”. So hard not to love her spirit!
None of the pictures my own. For more detail pictures check out fashionsnap. You can also watch a video of the whole show. Wakatsuki Chinatsu was also interviewed by Fashionsnap for this upcoming collection. You can read the full interview there (Japanese)

Ugh~ I’m totally spazzing out because this collection is so cute/pretty/feminine~ It’s def. different & I absolutely love the color yellow<3

So much yellow this season, I think butter yellow and mint green may be the two it colors with pink and blue a 3rd and 4th
Im so out of touch with WC these days, but I always seem to prefer their A/W collections
It’s your love of black XD Although admittedly they make some seriously cute sweaters and jumpers so it’s hard not love their Fall more
I’m really surprised at how much denim there is. Could it be the Japanese market is getting tired of floofy, frilly light fabrics??
At a glance, I feel pretty confident I could easily recreate everything but the shoes. XD Here I thought deconstructed skirts were so 6 years ago, but I stand corrected: everything eventually comes back into fashion. Guess me and my sewing machine will be busy until the clothes hit the stores. haha~
I don’t think so. If anything there’s going to be so much florals and lace this season (lace on denim for wc of course lol). So many of the trends are super girly. Even Emoda’s trying to do mode florals.
omg, the skirts….
they’re making me cringe really badly…
but overall, i think there are a lot of cute pieces that would work well at separates (not paired like they are on these outfits though….)
and i freakin love the heart-shaped sunglasses!!! omg… want!
I love some of the poufy skirts since I lack hips so it makes my figure look a little more shapely and my legs smaller, but some are just a mess ):
Awww, am I the only one who’s kinda disappointed with this collection? It’s cute and all, but it does seem like it’s missing something. Also, it kind of resembles a lot of items she put out last season :v It’s cute and all, but I was expecting a bit more quirky from Wakatsuki Chinatsu ;w; Where’s the quirky?!
I like the shoes even though I’ll never be able to fit them. lol
Exactly how I feel. Cute, but…..common-cute. I like WC for the quirky-cute, and this disappoints.
So much agreed. I feel like she really didn’t take to the runway. Trying to make things more editorial even though she’s beloved for the quirky everyday designs.
Hopefully this translates into poofy skirts
Not really liking the denim, I was never really a denim person =/
My weight can fluctuate +5 -5 lbs easily so fitted fabrics without any elastic like 100% cotton denim are a no no for me as well. Admittedly I do get a bit disappointed by so much denim.
I love, love, LOVE the long denim skirt with orange and beige fabric. Some of the stuff looks a bit odd, but that skirt definitely caught my attention and I’d definitely wear it. I mean, I much prefer collections like this because it’s something I’d pay to have shipped over to the UK, it’s not like a lot of other brands where you can find pretty much the same thing at home, which makes it worth buying imo. Kinda wish the models would smile like the designer does lol
I agree! I think wc makes a product you can’t replicate easily overseas although I wish I saw more of their traditional look on the runway.
I love that long tulle skirt and that rose off the shoulder lace dress. Sooooo much Denim!!
I’m really shocked how much denim is in the collection, curious how much will be in the actual stores especially since not a quirky shirt to be found.
it’ll be interesting to see how the seperate pieces will be worn by everyday people on the street or even on the shop staff as I just cannot imagine wearing a skirt which looks like a dozen different cut fabrics sewn together being worn on a normal day out
Agreed. I feel like she was pushed by the big stage to make things I don’t feel are wearable.
I like the 2nd & 3rd pic. I now realize I need to get my ass to the gym and lose about 50lbs so I can wear this stuff by spring/summer T-T
Girl you and me both, reaching that dream
