I have finally done it after Osaka Abeno 109! As silly as a travel goal as it was in Japan, I’ve visted all the 109s across Japan! And then they open Kagoshima 109 next week, but I’ve already been to that building so I’ll strike it up to say I’ve visited.

To recap all 109 mall related posts: Shibuya 109 渋谷109 (aka the mecca of gyaru clothes) (shopping at Shibuya 109 post), Machida  109 町田109 (site / picture post), Shizuoka 109 静岡109 in Shizuoka (site / picture post picture post 2), Kohrinbo 109 香林坊109 in Kanazawa (site / picture post picture post 2) and now Abeno 109 阿倍野109 in Osaka (site).

Abeno 109 is the newest 109 gyaru mall, and it’s tucked into a suburb of Osaka. It’s  smushed inside a shopping complex between an Ito Yokado (grocery store / basic family clothing store) and a Uniqlo. It’s actually on the 3rd floor and encompasses just a floor. It’s designed mostly for young girls with lots of young brands (Neon Soda, Pink Latte, Repipi Armario, SBY) and I saw a lot of families dropping by. I’d call this 109 the gateway into gal.

If you’re in Osaka for vacay just go visit Hep 5 and Shinsaibashi OPA, if you’re closer to Abeno and have limited time, it’s worth it to pick up a magazine and some groceries from Ito Yokado :)

To get there: take the Osaka Subway Tanimachi Line and head to Abeno station. Tennouji is also on the Tanimachi Line and is a big hub in Osaka connecting to many other rail lines for your transfer needs.

The fake real set-up of Abeno 109’s homage to Shibuya 109. All 109s have a tower-of-power nod to their big sister.

Pink Latte is a huge teens shop, Charlotte did a wonderful write-up about the brand here.

Repipi Armario is still going strong as a youth brand since its introduction in Shibuya 109 in 2011.

SBY since its creation for Shibuya 109 in 2008 is going strong as an accessories and make-up seller in tons of gyaru malls across Japan.

Sorry guys I was feeling very unfashionable lately and in a non-blog mood. Bad side effects from medicine were making me feel like the Hunchback of Notre Gal rather than a human. I’ve got a Fall nail trend post and then a trend post to do then back to Larme, if I keep to my schedule. Charlotte always being fabulous did a great Oneegyaru trend picks for Fall.

In 2012 I was in Okayama and then again this year after my Okinawa vacation. Okayama is a big train hub and has two gal malls: Okayama Ichiban-gai in the train station and Okayama OPA just outside the main train station. This is a tiny collection of Okayama OPA (岡山オーパ link) from both 2012 and 2013. I was there for Spring and Summer so it’s much more of a sunny mix, but there’s various styles in Okayama OPA with Hellcat Punks and Alconquins represented to Lip Service and Ingni.

First is a gyaru shop staff snap I took in March with an Ingni girl.

You’d think when faced with the entire gorgeous island of Okinawa I would be on a beach somewhere blorping like a contented lazy seal. But no I’m some sort of gyaru insect and gyaru malls are the bug zapper that draws me in.

Proof that gyaru is everywhere in Japan, gyaru mall chain OPA has one in the main city Naha (那覇オーパ) http://www.opa-club.com/naha/. It’s actually on the main drag is a mix of discount brands and more popular gyaru stores like Egoist and Lip Service. Sadly though it closed this July. I don’t know what the gyaru youth will do now, but I guess the declining youth population had a big deal to do with it in Naha Okinawa. Shucks.

DIA spec/ DIA / SONGEURダイヤ ソジュールダイヤ) you’re the ninja of the gyaru world. You have barely a web presence and no on-line shop. You’ve recently started a facebook page, but that’s years after its time (check other gyaru brands on facebook and mixi).

They even state on their official ameblo blog that they don’t sell on-line. So I try to take shots of DIA stores especially. Not the best quality of photos at all. But I figured it was either show you bad or none. Something about the DIA lighting just killed my camera pictures from Machida 109 DIA, Omiya Arche DIA, and Osaka OPA DIA. They’re slowly changing and brightening DIA stores with renewals (DIA in 109 just got one). If you need more DIA fix and you’re new to the blog check out this previous shot post or their selection of staff blogs or gaijin gyaru blogs like Ultimate Luxury.

Photo of the new, brighter songuer DIA at Shibuya 109. (from the Shibuya 109 twitter feed). I think this goes along with DIA softening a bit. More resort casual and less gold.
