I love taking travel pictures and while this is not gal or Japan related I like taking a break. If only for cool stuff like Baroque architecture and funky things I spotted. Man and I had been planning a European trip for a while but it had been hazy, on my birthday (June) he said okay pick where you want to go (best man ever award nominee). I decided on Sweden, and he decided on Berlin, our layover was in Amsterdam which completed our 2013 European trip.
Sadly I’d been having some bad health troubles and ended up in the emergency room 24 hours before our flight. After feeling in the worst pain of my life for 12 hours. Going to the ER in America is a big deal since even with insurance it’s just so expensive so unless you feel near death you don’t go. Thankfully the visit helped, but I couldn’t eat for 48 hours almost other than clear broth so I was not doing good.
The amount of Rococo in Berlin is amazing. Especially in Sanssouci (wiki). If you’re an architecture fan or just love pretty things, definitely worth a visit.
Seal saying Hi at the Berlin Zoo.
A more modern train station near the Berlin Wall mural section.
I forgot who but a lovely girl recommended eating at Kartoffelhaus and I was so thankful. I wanted some German food, I was close by and my body was finally able to enjoy it. Sinful spinach gratin, was excellent!
The Oriental House at the Sanssouci is something I saw on tumblr a long time ago and thought I want to see that. Seeing it in person was just… insane. The gold statues outside shine from every angle. The full coverage and love of Chinese art and design is amazing. It was used as a summer dining house. Oh for the summer we go to one of the most amazing places to dine….
Cool Gratified park in Potsdam outside of Sanssouci
Mural parts of the Berlin Wall. Cool artwork and free to visit!
One of the only super touristy areas of Berlin. Checkpoint Charlie.
Brandenburg Gate was also a bit touristy, but not too much. I know it’s supposed to be the signature of Berlin but it pales to what else I saw, modern and antique.
Berliner Bears as an art project where around everywhere in Berlin. I liked this one outside a cafe.
Bauhaus Museum was extremely well done. Big fan. Only wish their gift shop had more things to buy.
Outside and inside of the Berlin Cathedral. Man made the climb to the top while I enjoyed sitting in the pews and looking at the amazing inside.
