Finally I’m going to do another kawaii make-up review, this time FITS Love Switch “Pink Brown Mascara” in the Long Type (website) (ラブスイッチ ピンクブラウンロングマスカラ). I’m really excited to review this because it starts me on my brown make-up reviews that I’ve been meaning to do since I’ve talked about the brown trend.

Even though I took these photos months ago I’ve been really uninspired to do make-up reviews. I got on Accutane for my acne that started when I turned 20. If you’re one of those people who decided to love someone in their 20s then overnight your perfectly clear skin went all acne crazy, I feel you. I put off doing the medicine for a long time until I finally realized it was my ONETRUECOURSE. The medicine’s side effects have ranged from “hmmm this is mild” to “leave me in my dark hole, I’m a monster, but please pick me up some food while you’re out???”. But I’m almost done with my course. After I’m done I’ll throw a big make-up party. hehee!

Finally back to do a review on a product that actually delivers as promised.

Love Switch Pink Brown Mascara in Long Product Shots

Newish casing. Love Switch Pink Brown Line used to have a Curl formula but they’ve ditched that to just have the “Long” and “Volume” types.

Love Switch Pink Brown Long bills itself as separating each individual lash.

The actual casing isn’t as cute, but it’s more a natural-cute.

You can see the fibers attaching to the brush. Pink Brown Mascara Long is definitely a fiber mascara.

I took these pictures at Okadaya in Shinjuku kabukicho. Below are @cosme  reviews by women of different ages. Cosme is a popular make-up review site in Japan, comparable to make-up alley with much much better organization.

Pink Brown mascaras and liners advertise as being a 3D pearl pink on it.

I have stubby eyelashes to begin with so any fiber mascara makes a big change for me. The color is hard to tell its an actual brown in photos, but it definitely was noticeable IRL.

It’s a medium brown and works with black lashes as well as brown.

I’m wearing Koakuma Ageha’s brand of monthly circle lens in “Moe Brown” I bought in Japan. I’m thinking about doing a post on buying circle lens in Japan, would you like that?

More brown make-up swatching. I’m using the CanMake Perfect Stylist Eyes eyeshadow, the Excel Eyebrow set in Apricot Brown and the Eyescream Brown liquid liner along with the Pink Brown Long mascara in the above photos.

Just-the-facts Love Switch Pink Brown Mascara in Long Review

Pros:
– cute packaging
– moderate price 1280-1640yen
– fiber mascara
– is an actual brown mascara, hard to find a competitor
– never notice smudging

Cons:
– hard to find (Imomoko & Sasa currently don’t carry. Sasa only has Pink Brown eyeliner)
– not as cute actual container

Overall: 4/5

Final thoughts:
I bought this mascara not expecting much, but it actually was lengthening and the color was a nice brown. It’s become my regular mascara because the applicator is easy and the fibers stay in line. I’ve tried to search for dupes available for overseas, but both Dior and Benefit‘s brown mascaras are too dark of a brown and more expensive than Pink Brown.

If only the actual packaging was more cute.

I have no idea what made purchase Etude House’s Princess Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips Lipstick. I reviewed the blush poorly, so why would I go back the same product line? I think it’s the packaging. Stupid, cute packaging. Thankfully I’m glad I bought the Crystal Shine Lipstick another Etude House Princess Etoinette Review for you!

I’ve previously introduced the Princess Etoinette collection so I’ll just get down to talking about the lipsticks. Crystal Shine Lipstick is a combination opaque lipstick and hydrating gloss. So it’s not a true lipstick and it’s made to finish in a gloss not a usual matte. They were released last winter and they’re still in stores.

I bought my two from the Etude House store in Shinjuku Lumine EST. Cost is midrange, around $13.00 USD. They can be purchased from Korea from KpopStore $12.90 or Yesstyle $22

As with the rest of the Princess Etoinette collection super cute packaging even down to the metallic bits on the box.

I purchased the pink (PPK004) first and went back and got the nude orange (POR201) next.

etoinette-crystal-shine-lipstick-swatched-comparison

With both you can see the shine they have without need for a topping of gloss. Because both shades are opaque the orange turned out to be not so orange worn.

In different light and angle you can see the POR201 orange does look slightly orange.

The coverage is buildable and those are the two colors after several applications.

Just-the-facts Etude House Princess Etoinette Review

Pros:
– cute packaging
– mid-range price
– very hydrating (perfect for winter!)
– opaque style means color wusses (like me) can choose bolder colors

Cons:
– still plastic case
– doesn’t stain enough to last more than 2 hours
– only bottom in tiny font tells color difference, kind of hard to grab the right one in a hurry

Overall: 4.75/5

Final thoughts: This lipstick is made for winter. I wore it constantly in dry Japan and it really helped my lips. I also like the opaque style of the lipstick. I’m usually a color wuss when it comes to lipstick sticking to mostly nudes, but opaque made me be a little bold with my choices. I repurchased, and I (spoiler) got 2 lipsticks along with some other products from the second Princess Etoinette line that just came out!

Etude House didn’t put a blush out in the second Princess Etoinette line, so maybe the blush wasn’t as loved eternally?

Side note:  I’ll be doing more make-up reviews and talks lately, I feel like I ignored them a lot  and I’m really into make-up right now, especially super cute packaged make-up. I hope you’ve enjoyed this Etude House Princess Etoinette Review. I’ve got a trend report to talk about, Gyaru brands ss14 trends and maybe a kind of off the cuff discussion on gyaru with some more recent observations of seeing current gal in Tokyo and beyond in November.

I’m back in Houston from my month of Japan in November so now I have time to reply to all the wonderful comments you guys have left. Thank you!! :loveword:  I’ve been reading them while I’ve been traveling and appreciate them and your likes on blogluvin’ as well. If you need to read the Doll on mobile Blogluvin’ has a great FREE (and ad-free) app for android and ioS (iphone, ipad) that includes a wonderful mobile reader. I’ve been using it while traveling and it’s a fabulous way to keep up with your favorite blogs all in one place.

Korean make-up brand Etude House launched a line “Princess Etionette” that was an obvious rift of Laduree’s ultra-expensive Japan-only Make-up Line “Les Merveilleuses” (link). But cheaper!! Les Merveillesuses blush is 10,000 yen ($110). While Etude House’s Princess Etionette Cheek is 2,500 yen ($28). Not drugstore, but not made of diamonds!

I bought the Etude House Princess Etoinette Blusher in OR201 Coral Masquerade.

Much softer than the Liz Lisa blush and less pigmented. I would call the color more “pearl” as well.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Other reviewers have written about the hearts breaking, 7 months in that’s not an issue for me.

Comparison next to my Liz Lisa blush (reviewed here). I’m not a fan of the dull gold/pewter on the Etude House blush, but I do like their baby pink.

Just-the-facts Etude House Princess Etoinette Heart Blusher Review

Pros:
– cute packaging
– comes with applicator
– mid-range price

Cons:
– not very pigmented
– too pearlescent for problem skin
– bulky case and delicate product not travel friendly
– plastic case up close is just… plastic

Overall: 2.75/5

Final thoughts: A cute make-up product that’s more looks than substance. With problem skin I think the pearl shimmer instead of glitter shows up my scars more. I would purchase from this line again, but not the blush (edit: I did, review on Princess Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips Lipstick here in two shades)

They make cat-shaped make-up! Tony Moly Catchu Wink line with cat themed items, you understand me. Tony Moly actually put a whole line of cat-shaped packaging along with bunnies and such. Korean companies, you’re beating the Japanese on cheap cute make-up right now. Tony Moly is a Korean brand and I got into it because they have a giant pop-up store in Kabukicho Shinjuku almost across from the MA*RS main store.

In my experience their skincare is great, and their make-up is slowly catching up.

I’m going to be reviewing the Tony Moly CatChu Wink Gloss in 01

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A friend of mine was over at my place, used my bathroom and came out with my this lip gloss yelling “I should’ve guessed!”

I know. No shame. Crazy cat ladies… we’re suckers.

tony moly catchu wink lip gloss

The packaging is cute, cheap and sturdy, just plastic with nothing to chip or tarnish.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One standout for me was the applicator. With a thin edge and flat paddle it’s much easier to get a precise application.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Swatched with the Canmake Stay-on Balm Rouge (previously reviewed). You can see it’s extremely shiny and gives a solid coverage. The issue is the edges can set too much product. (See the thicker edges?) The same thick edges can appear on the edges of your lips.

Pros:

Super high gloss without glitter
Cute packaging
Petite size easy for pocket gloss
Doesn’t dry out lips

Cons:

The application can require clean-up
A pure gloss, no staying power

Overall: 4/5

Does what it says, has cute packaging and a good price. As a gloss it has no staying power. I also realized I’m not too crazy about the candy fake orange color, but I feel that’s personal choice. I bought another item from Tony Moly’s CatChu line so I’ll be reviewing it later. Please check out all my other kawaii make-up reviews here
